Fowler Welch has appointed John Davies, former development director for major projects at DHL Supply Chain, as business development director.
Davies will join a senior team that the chilled and ambient logistics specialist says “has been strengthened considerably over the past year”.
Based at Fowler Welch’s headquarters in Spalding, Lincolnshire, Davies says: “I am incredibly excited to be joining Fowler Welch at a time of great opportunity for the company. The business delivers a diverse and increasingly compelling offering to a broad range of customers, and we will build on that to drive significant growth in coming years.”
The company’s parent, Dart Group, revealed in its interim results last month, that while the market remains extremely challenging, its national network and growing presence in the ambient food sector puts it in a good position to enjoy future growth.
Group chairman Philip Meeson says the company plans to use its DC opened in Devon’s Newton Abbott in June to service Tesco Express stores as a springboard to expand its business further in south-west England.
The business has also invested in 30 new SDC tri-axle trailers to boost its fleet capacity.
