Trade Distribution (TDL) has bought ICD, a haulage firm with a depot in Skelmersdale, Lancs. This is the fourth acquisition the Isle of Man logistics company has made since it was established in 2000.

ICD also has a depot on the island; it has invested £150,000 in a 300-pallet cold store that provides a consolidating service for its customers to and from the Isle of Man.

TDL managing director Steve Pickett reports that the merger of the two Isle of Man companies creates a "major workforce" of 80 staff on the island. He adds: "With a local fleet of over 50 vehicles, we're all excited about the next step in TDL's development."

TDL started out as a warehouse and distribution service provider to local drinks company Heron and Brearley; since then it has expanded to take on contracts with Manx Electricity Authority and Okell's Brewery. It also transports most of the local fish exports.

ICD managing director Pam Jones joins TDL's board as commercial director.
