The commercial vehicle fleet services company Fraikin has delivered the first of 26 Daf LFs to food wholesaler T Quality.

The order comprises 22 15-tonne units and four 18-tonners, which will join the company’s fleet of 135 vehicles.

To suit T Quality’s work, the Dafs are fitted with bespoke split-load bodies which the companies first collaborated on in 2021.

Ninel Diaconu, national fleet manager at T Quality said: “We have been working with Fraikin for more than two decades, so when we approached them in 2021 to help with the development of the body on 10 new trucks they were supplying, we were confident they would deliver – and the resulting design didn’t disappoint.

“Since then, the versatility of the new split-load has made our drivers’ lives much easier, helping to speed up customer deliveries, improve safety and ultimately reduce maintenance downtime. It was a no-brainer to bring more onto the fleet.”

The split-load design features a refrigerated area at the front of the body and an ambient area at the rear. Inside, load restraints, steps and flooring allow operators to access ambient and cooled sections from both sides of the vehicle.

T Quality’s hire agreement includes servicing, repairs, safety inspections, MoT testing, tyre management, roadside assistance and around the clock customer support. An online web portal FRAIKinVIEW provides access to planned maintenance schedules and MYSMARTFLEET is the accompanying telematics software to see driver behaviour and other metrics such as crash alerts.

Mark Bunker, business development manager at Fraikin, said: “T Quality’s decision to once again turn to Fraikin for this latest order is a testament to our strong understanding of its business needs, as well as our unrivalled ability to deliver complex and specialist vehicles.”

The trucks, which are supplied on a seven-year full service contract hire agreements, are expected to cover up to 40,000 miles annually. They will be based across T Quality’s facilities in Birmingham, Darlington, Newton Abbot, Staplehurst and Swindon.

All 26 vehicles are expected to be delivered and on the road by the end of 2024.
