Wheely-Safe's intelligent tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) has proved to be a prudent investment for Bedfordshire-based, family-run aggregates business Frank Redman & Sons.

The technology has effectively averted two potential hazardous and costly tyre blowouts, solidifying its pivotal role in enhancing safety and operational efficiency.

As a key contract haulier for Tarmac Group, Frank Redman & Sons is progressively integrating this innovative solution across its fleet of 8-wheel tippers and 6x2 tractor units, including the DAFs pictured. The strategic adoption aims to bolster the company's commitment to health and safety, minimise downtime, and curtail fuel expenses.

Martin Redman, the owner of Frank Redman & Sons, said: "Our current implementation encompasses three tippers and five tractor units equipped with the system. The outcomes have been truly remarkable.

"On two distinct occasions, it promptly alerted us to dropping tyre pressure, allowing the drivers to pull over safely and inspect the situation. This immediate response prevented potential blowouts, sparing us significant costs associated with sidewall damage and the need for new tyres. The financial benefits are substantial.”.

Frank Redman & Sons opted for Wheely-Safe's external TPMS sensors, a seamless replacement for conventional valve caps. These sensors autonomously sync with an in-cab solar receiver, streamlining the monitoring process.

Furthermore, the company's drivers are utilising additional tools provided by Wheely-Safe, including the convenient Pressure and Brake Temperature Checkers, along with WalkAround Checkers tailored for daily inspections.

"The system as a whole is effortlessly accessible and remarkably user-friendly. The integration has unquestionably enriched our operational capabilities," added Redman.

Family-run Frank Redman & Sons was founded in 1932, and its first truck was used to carry its own grown vegetables to local shops and markets.
