Fraser Freight breaks tradition with new MANs

Portsmouth-based Fraser Freight has broken its tradition of buying exclusively DAF following the addition of two new MANs to its existing 15-strong fleet. The new 4x2 TGX 18.440s are the first MANs in the European express specialists fleet and will be tasked with general haulage operations to continental Europe.

Ross Fraser, MD of Fraser Freight, says: "As our trucks spend 90% of their working lives in Europe we always buy them in left-hand drive and the new MANs are no different. Business has increased hence the fleet additions and we now run a daily service to Milan from Portsmouth on top of services to Germany, the Benelux countries, France and Spain."

Fraser adds that a key factor in buying MAN was the deal and back-up service on offer from Fraser's local MAN dealership. "We purchase our vehicles outright and run them for three years maximum. The reason being we like to run the latest up-to-date trucks and also with the mileage they do, roughly 100,000 miles a year, it doesn't pay to keep them for any longer than that.

"Our drivers like the new vehicles and we've deliberately specified all the creature comforts because they are away for up to a week at a time so it has to be comfortable."
