Shackleford haulier Frederick R Miller has put a fleet of six new Scania R450 6x2 tractors and five 18-tonne P250 curtainsiders into service. The family-run firm, which was founded 51 years ago, will use the trucks almost exclusively on its pallet network operations for Palletways across Guildford, Kingston-upon Thames and Reading.

The new Scanias, which replace older vehicles, joined the firm’s mixed-marque fleet of 25 trucks and 18 trailers late last year, and were supplied with a 3-year repair and maintenance contract.

“We have a long history of working with Scania that goes back 40 years,“ MD Ian Miller told CM. “We have a good relationship with it and I think they’re the best trucks for our use overall.”
