Free fuel with new Iveco Stralis or Trakker

Iveco is offering 1,000 litres of free fuel with any new Stralis or Trakker truck purchased and registered by 31 March. Run in conjunction with Keyfuels, whose network will provide the fuelling points, the offer is said to amount to a saving of almost £1,000 in free diesel.

Andrea Bucci, Iveco UK marketing director, says: "Combined with the incentive of purchasing and registering a Euro-5 vehicle ahead of the Reduced Pollution Certification deadline on 30 September 2009, which will save £500 per year in Vehicle Excise Duty for the duration of the vehicle life, the free fuel offer adds up to a considerable saving."

Renault Trucks to launch driver training in April

Renault Trucks is launching fuel-economy training for drivers and fleet managers in April. At present the truck manufacturer only offers advice to operators when they purchase a new vehicle, but it is working with Quality Transport Training to develop further training options. Suckling Transport: profits fall was 'inevitable'

Suckling Transport remains confident about the future despite reporting a £3.8m fall in turnover during 2007/08. The Thurrock, Essex-based fuel distributor also saw pre-tax profits fall to just £70,000 on a turnover of £17.7m in the year ending 31 March, but managing director Peter Larner says the drop was inevitable: "We've had six consecutive years of growth. It was a long spell to keep beating the previous year's sales figures.

Ten illegal immigrants found in lorry on A50

Ten illegal immigrants were discovered in the back of two lorries at Shardlow Services on the A50 last week. The discovery by UK Border Agency officers comes just a week after 39 stowaways were found in the back of two container lorries in Norfolk. Recently, the agency ran a pilot operation sending a mobile detention van across the Midlands and East England recently, which resulted in the discovery of 18 illegal immigrants, 14 at Corley services alone.
