Spalding-based FreshLinc is adding 60 new Scania R450 Highline 6x2/2 mid-lift-axle tractors to its 600-strong fleet at the end of the year.
The temperature-controlled supply chain specialist has been running Scanias since it was founded in 1996.
Fleet engineer Andrew Marchant said: “We run a number of new generation Scanias and are impressed with their fuel returns, which have contributed to reduced operating costs. Acceptance of the Scania cab is high among drivers, and we have specified the Highline to add to their appeal and comfort.”
The majority of the new trucks, on three-year R&M contracts, will work out of the haulier’s Spalding headquarters, and the remainder from Manchester. They will be kept for three years, running as trampers in year one and double-shifting for the remainder.
They will run primarily on refrigerated operations but will also haul curtainsiders and containers, covering up to 180,000km per year.
