Tipper bodybuilder Thompsons Group is beginning a phased return to work, initially just to support those customers needing parts and service support.

“The phone won’t stop ringing, and it’s mainly customers needing parts,” explained director Scott Burton. “We are trying to be as helpful as possible, and give the best service we can under these challenging conditions, so are having a few back to work."

Burton expressed his concerns that the bodybuilding industry will likely suffer in the coming months due to a lack of new chassis.

“Any trucks that we were due in, clearly aren’t going to arrive when they were supposed to, as all the truck plants are either shut or operating at lower capacity,” he said. “This is going to have a serious knock-on effect.”
