The Transport Committee took evidence in Hull last week as part of its inquiry into the priorities for transport spending, and the FTA argued for improved transport links in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
The committee wanted to see if the principles identified in the 2006 Transport Study by Sir Rod Eddington (curbing congestion in urban areas, key inter-urban corridors and international gateways) would generate growth in the region.
Malcolm Bingham, FTA's head of policy for northern England, said: "Of course the FTA supports better connectivity to the ports and both sides of the Humber, such as the A63 through Hull and the A160 to Immingham, and the divide that the Humber Bridge creates, but we all need to see connectivity to the whole region by dealing with bottlenecks on both road and rail."
