Rossetts Commercials has supplied Eastbourne, East Sussex-based removals and haulage specialist JWD Enterprises with its second 7.5-tonne Fuso Canter.
The Canter 7C18 is powered by a 3-litre common-rail diesel engine that produces 175hp and drives through a fully automated Duonic dual clutch transmission. The truck, which includes Transport Enterprises box body, air management kit and 1,000 kg Dhollandia column tail-lift, has a carrying capacity of 3,220kg and is subject of a Mercedes-Benz Financial Services contract hire agreement.
Family-owned JWD Enterprises was founded 40 years ago by John Dobbs, who was joined in 2013 by his son David. The company runs 13 trucks, among them two new 12-tonne Mercedes-Benz Atego 1224s, all maintained by the workshop team at Rossetts Commercials’ Eastbourne branch.
David Dobbs said: “My father and I were a little concerned when we first saw the Canter, as the cab looked so small against the high-volume body. We needn’t have worried, though.
“Several members of the team have taken the vehicle out and everyone’s really chuffed with it, because it’s so comfortable and easy to drive. We used 140 litres of fuel on a 700-mile round trip to Germany, which equated to a return of nearly 23 mpg, that’s a figure we’re very happy with.
“We receive terrific support from the Rossetts team. If ever I have an issue with one of our older lorries I know I can call on service manager Malcolm Rosier and his colleagues, and if necessary they’ll carry out a repair overnight to help us out.”
