Fuso to Sell through KamAZ in Russia and CIS

When we spoke with Renschler a while back, he intimated that Daimler's ten per cent in KamAZ should be viewed more as a strategic alliance rather than as a precursor to a full takeover.

Here is the first evidence of Daimler doing something strategic. Fuso will enter the marketplace this year, most probably with the Canter, and with ambitions of 1000 unit sales per annum. These will be sold through the KamAZ network, and, whilst nothing to this effect is implied, we'd assume that some form of C or SKD deal has been brokered. At the same time, we note that Turkish OEM Temsa - better known for its bus and coach products and a division of Haci Omer Sabanci Holdings AS - will produce Canter models for sale in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
