A Gammond Transport trucker has been charged over the deaths of a Hereford couple killed from a lorry timber spill.

A 49-year-old HGV driver has been charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, West Mercia Police has confirmed.

The charges relate to a 7 February incident, where Thomas Matts, aged 29, and 24-year-old and Terri-Ann Barnett, both of Broxash Drive, were fatally injured when the driver's truck, which was carrying roof trusses, shed its load near a railway bridge on Belmont Road.

The lorry driver was working for Hereford-based Gammond Transport. The company declined to comment, and the driver has been bailed to appear at Hereford Magistrates' Court on 1 June.
