Ge-Be Transport has purchased its first new generation Scanias; three R450 6x2s and three S450 6x2s. All have Highline cabs and have been specified with mid-lift axles and rear air suspension.
The Kings-Lynn-based company opted for Scania’s driver package, in addition to a leather dashboard and seat trims, heated and cooled seats, a fridge and a microwave. Lockers replace the second bunk that Ge-Be normally specifies.
Ge-Be general manager Jay Goldspink, said: “Due to the known lifecycle of a Scania and previous performance we know they’ll just keep going, so it made sense. The product is already very good so we are keen to see how the new models fair.
“Our trucks average around 120,000km annually and are pretty much fully loaded all the time, ready to go. The drivers are out in them for the best part of a week, so being able to completely tailor the specification for what they need is a real plus point.”
Supplied by Scania’s TruckEast dealership in Kings Lynn, the vehicles have entered service with a five-year contract hire agreement, which includes maintenance and full repair.
“The service levels we receive from Kings Lynn were a huge factor in us returning to Scania for these trucks. I can’t fault them and that back-up is supported nationwide, which is important when our vehicles operate all over,” Goldspink concluded.
