Adding to its commercial vehicle tyre range, Giti Tire has launched the Giti GTR956 HD combi road. This is the company’s newest trailer tyre generation that’s designed for severe heavy duty regional applications. To begin with, the tyre will be available in size 385/65R22.5 and towards the end of the year in Q4, size 265/70R19.5 will join the range.

As a heavy duty tyre, Giti envisages this product being used for working on sites, heavy loads, mountainous and winding roads, and rough terrains with limited off-road capacity. Giti also has the GTR955 combi road in its trailer tyre portfolio, compared to which the new heavy-duty tyre has a redesigned tread pattern to improve its robustness and chunking resistance.

The GTR956 HD has a reinforced structure and specially developed tread compound which makes it suited to severe regional conditions and heavy duty operations. Another aspect of the tyre’s design is its solid wide tread shoulders which offer good durability and mileage. The tread pattern features longitudinal zig-zag tread grooves to facilitate efficient water drainage. This design also helps to improve grip in all conditions. The GTR956 HD has achieved a three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) categorisation.

Antonio Palummo, TBR senior engineer - Europe for Giti Tire, said: “The implementation of the GTR956 HD provides a reliable solution for highly demanding regional usage applications, with the required enhanced robustness in both the tread and casing areas requested by our fleet customers. The tyre is designed to complement the GTR955 in applications where mixed-service properties are required.”

Earlier this year, Giti launched its new GDL617 Ecoroad tyre. Initially available in size 315/70R22.5, the tyre marked a significant improvement in rolling resistance to extend tyre life. To achieve this, the tyre was developed from the GDL617 with slightly different tread pattern and a new compound.
