GLW Feeds, which this year celebrates its 150th birthday, has invested in a trio of Renault Rance C 8x4 tippers.
The C440 tridems, which are equipped with Muldoon tipper bodies, are finished in a special anniversary livery.
Supplied by RH Commercial Vehicles, these are the first Renault Trucks to join the fleet, and they have been specified to be highly manoeuvrable when navigating narrow country lanes and uneven terrain. They have a 3.7m wheelbase, which improves the turning circle by 20% compared with a conventional 8x4 rigid.
“We need our trucks to be versatile and robust to withstand the nature of the job,” explains transport manager Neale Jones. “Our customers are often in hard-to-reach places like down narrow lanes or on uneven ground. We need a vehicle that our drivers can trust, so when we were approached by Andy Cross at RH Commercial Vehicles, we were intrigued.”
Driver comfort features highly in the trucks’ specification, and all have been fitted with luxury, heated driver’s seats, multi-media screens, and ROADPAD+ which includes TomTom satnav, refrigerator, 24V socket and additional storage. They have also been fitted with rear-view cameras, anti-runaway, emergency braking and hill-start assistance.
GLW Feeds took advantage of Renault Trucks’ five-year Optifleet offer, which can be used to monitor uptime, safety and fuel efficiency, and minimise the overall cost of ownership.
MD Louis White says: “Historically road transport, particularly HGVs has been one of the highest contributors to air pollution on the planet. By taking these steps to monitor the consumption of fuel and output of CO2, with the assistance of Optifleet, we as a business, can continue to take control of our sustainability goals.”
Jones adds: “Overall, we have been incredibly satisfied with the service and performance of Renault Trucks and RH Commercial Vehicles. I can very much envisage the Renault Trucks brand becoming prominent in the fleet.”
Founded in 1873 by George Llewelyn White, GLW Feeds is one of the largest independent, family-owned livestock feed manufacturers in the UK.
