GMT Europe goes into administration

Staffordshire haulage firm GMT Europe – formerly Geoff Martin Transport – has gone into administration. The firm was sold by former owner Geoff Martin in March 2007 to Intercity Enterprises, owned by Andrew Smith and Brian Miles, who were installed as GMT's directors. The two men also run CAB Automotive, an automotive manufacturer in the West Midlands, for which GMT Europe provided haulage.

Curiously, a third director of CAB, Richard McCulloch, was secretary at GMT Europe, but when contacted by Motor Transport claimed to have no contact details for either of his co-directors. And, just prior to GMT Europe's receivership, McCulloch took on the directorship of another transport firm  Walsall-based Eclipse Freight.

Martin is still listed as GMT Europe's sole director with VOSA, despite resigning two years ago. VOSA says it has not received any information from the firm to inform it of a change in directorship. Neither of the directors nor administrator Redfern Partnership were available for comment.
