Go Plant Fleet Services has launched a refurbishment centre for specialist commercial vehicles that will include modification, refurbishment and repair of refuse trucks, recycling vehicles and cage tippers.

The new Matlock premises will also form part of Go Plant’s operations and maintenance hub for its spot hire division. The site was purchased from family-run Harprule Hire back in August. In addition to the site acquisition, 26 vehicles were also purchased taking Go Plant Fleet Services’ total owned spot hire fleet of cage tippers and truck-mounted and compact sweepers to 260.

Phil Quelch, fleet engineering director at Go Plant Fleet Services, believes demand for the service will be strong and said the pilot project could soon be rolled out to more of the company’s 39 depots across the UK.

“Professional refurbishment can significantly extend the life of a vehicle, but there are very few businesses providing that kind of service for the specialist sector,” he said.
