Driving experience company 6th Gear has made a move into trucking with a tractor and trailer driving experience at its track days. Better known for its fast car driving days, giving visitors the chance to sample Ferraris, Lamborghinis and many other exotic cars at a selection of tracks across the country, the Birmingham based company is now offering unique truck driving experiences using the car transporters that deliver the supercars to the tracks.
Having introduced the experience last summer, places to drive the DAF XF95 quickly sell-out, with around 80% of those looking to take on the slaloming and manoeuvring challenges being women. Budding truck drivers are guided by 6th Gear’s own car transporter driver, Celia Stevens, on a separate part of the circuit to the supercars, allowing drivers to get a proper feel for the truck before conducting reversing and U-turn manoeuvres. Just like real truck drivers, who are scrutinised by telematics, 6th Gear Experience drivers also get a USB memory stick which records data from their drive, as well as video of the session.
In addition to the new truck driving experience, 6th Gear has also introduced also its own national and worldwide vehicle transportation services, much to the pleasure of6th Gear co-director Andy Collings who is a truck enthusiast. The company, 6th Gear Logistics, offers car transportation and storage, as well as fleet car carriage and worldwide shipping.
