Mike Bedson, MD at Shropshire and West Midlands Daf dealer Greenhous, has retired after more than 45 years with the business.
Bedson worked at depots in Shrewsbury, Telford and Whitchurch in several roles during the 1970s and 1980s, including selling Bedford trucks and vans. He was the founding sales director of the new Greenhous Leyland Daf franchise in Shrewsbury and Willenhall in the late 1980s.
Bedson, who helped oversee the building of the firm’s Battlefield Enterprise Park site near Shrewsbury in the early 1990s, was made MD 12 months ago.
“I am going to miss the people at work enormously, I can honestly say I have always wanted to come into work and that is why it is tough to leave,” he said.
The dealer has appointed Kevin Comerford, previously sales director for Greenhous Group Shrewsbury, as MD. Comerford added: “Mike was always a fair manager, he had the ability to listen and gave a lot of trust to his employees, always keeping a safe pair of hands on the tiller.”
