The Volkswagen CV franchise in Shrewsbury has been taken over by truck and van dealer Greenhous Group, which plans to create more jobs and invest in an MoT bay. Greenhous already has DAF, LDV, Peugeot, and Vauxhall franchises.
Ray Coates, brand manager at the Shrewsbury site, says that after the previous company went into administration, Greenhous was able to keep the 12-strong workforce in employment. It is now looking to employ six more people, mainly technicians, sales and aftermarket people.
The company will also invest more than £15,000 in adding an MoT bay to the site, which will sell new vans, lifestyle vehicles and approved used vehicles.
Volkswagen has given Greenhous the target of selling 35 new and 50 used vans by the end of the year.
"Greenhous is in a strong position to move the business forward because of the relationships we have spent years growing with our retail and fleet customers, and we endeavour always to put customer service at the top of our list of priorities," Coates says.
He believes the Volkswagen brand is an opportunity for the group to open up to new customers. "It adds quality to the table; Volkswagen has a loyal following."
