Gregory Distribution has expanded into Wales with the purchase of refrigerated transport business Dylan Thomas International for an undisclosed sum.

The Fishguard based business, which is licensed for 5 vehicles and 5 trailers, delivers potato products for Puffin Produce and poultry on behalf of Capestone Organic Poultry.

Seven Dylan Thomas employees have transferred as part of the deal and boss Dylan also remains within the enlarged business as transport manager.

John Gregory, chief executive of Gregory Distribution, says: "Dylan Thomas has been handling some of our chilled distribution for some time.

"The acquisition adds value to our current operation while allowing us to expand into Wales and to seek new business opportunities."

The Devon company now has business units throughout the UK mainland, including its base in North Tawton.

At the start of the year, John Gregory warned of a tough year ahead for the road transport industry as the group’s full-year results revealed a squeeze on profits.
