Guest Trucks is showcasing an Iveco Daily Electric on its stand in Hall 3 – one of a range of Daily LCVs offering urban operators a 100% electric, zero-emissions vehicle that guarantees maximum sustainability.
Iveco director of alternative fuels Martin Flach said the Daily Electric is starting to make practical sense for some inner-city fleets.
“If you take a two-battery configuration Daily costing £80,000, and deduct 20% as a plugged-in van grant, the cost reduces to £64,000. Then take off the comparative price of a diesel vehicle – say £20,000 – and you’re left with £44,000.
"From this, remove the advantages of only paying for electricity, not diesel, and you save a further £4,000 annually, plus £3,000 in congestion charge payments. Over six years, that totals a further £42,000 saving,” he said.
“Suddenly, you have virtually a cost-neutral situation – and that’s without allowing for any residual value on the vehicle, or the PR value of turning your fleet electric,” he added.
Daily Electric is available as a van, chassis cab, chassis-cowl and minibus, with GVWs from 3.5-tonne to 5-tonne, and wheelbase lengths from 3,000mm to 4,100mm.
Iveco – which positions itself as a partner for sustainable transport – also offers an extensive Daily Natural Power line-up, running on either compressed natural gas or biomethane.
These models are unique as they are developed from a diesel-engine platform, which means they deliver performance just like a diesel in terms of power, torque and response.
