A new range of all-season long and medium duty truck tyres has been launched by Hankook that is said to improve safety in changeable weather conditions.
The new Smartflex range of M+S marked tyres will be available in three main sizes for both steer and drive axles.
Smartflex AH31 steer tyres will be available in sizes 295/80 R22.5, 315/80 R22.5 and 315/70 R22.5, and is made using Hankook’s Spiral Coil Technology, using a winded steel belt between the regular steel cords.
Hankook claims this new structure will lead to improved durability as well as an increase in both tyre life and maximum load capacity. Support blocks will also prevent irregular wear patterns occurring on the shoulder of the tyre.
Drive axle tyres (DH31) will be available in the same range of sizes, while the new design of Hankook’s kerfs in the centre of each block ensures optimum traction throughout the life of the tyre.
The new Smartflex range will go on sale later this year, with the 295 tyre size on sale in the autumn. Under the new EU tyre labelling system all tyre sizes will receive B or C ratings for fuel efficiency and wet grip.
Hankook has also recently launched a new range of retread tyres made by Bandvulc. The Alphatread range are bead-to-bead retreads using first life casings, and are available for drive and trailer axles.
