Joloda Hydraroll, the handling equipment specialist born out of the old York Trailers business, has launched several new products aimed at increasing fleet versatility.
First is an improved version of its Vanloda Rollerbed, a easy-install pallet loading system for vans. It consists of two sections of roller floor, in modular lengths to fit all standard vans, with rollers raised by an integrated compressor that is powered from a standard lighter socket. It can be installed by the driver in under an hour, and is held in place by turnbuckle tensioners on the van's restraint rings.
Pallets are forklifted onto the rear and then easily pushed by hand to their desired location, before the rollers are retracted leaving the pallet secure. Originally launched last year, the new version is 40% lighter, at around 130kg for the longest vans.
The standard design will carry 1,000kg pallets, while a heavy duty version with an extra third lane of rollers will carry pallets up to 1,250kg. Cost depends on exact specification but is in the region of £2,000.
Inspired by the van system, the self-assembly TrailerLoda is a similar concept on a larger scale, designed primarily to fit any standard semi-trailer. It can be installed by two people in six hours to any existing or rented trailer. Although aimed at the air-freight sector, it could be used by any operator needing a short-term, easy-handling solution. Again, pallets or cargo containers can be handled by one person once loaded.
Following trials by Norbert Dentressangle at Heathrow, the production version now features non-slip and fork-lift resistant surfaces. Costing £8,750, the same as the permanently fixed system, the TrailerLoda weighs 1,435kg and reduces internal height by 68.5mm. A rental scheme is also available for short-term requirements. Both systems are fully equipped with all necessary safety features.
Much of the British firm's output is exported globally, and the new products will be appearing at next week's Hannover IAA Show.
