Harris Group strengthens leadership team to fuel growth

Automotive distributor and retailer, Harris Group has announced a strategic restructuring of the company and the appointment of a new senior leadership team as it positions itself for a new phase of accelerated growth in 2024 and beyond.

As part of a number of leadership announcements, chairperson and CEO, Denise Harris, has appointed Brian Patterson (pictured above) as group MD. With responsibility for the business’ P&L, Brian will advise on and develop the company’s strategic direction, motivating the business to meet ambitious growth targets, underpinned by the core objective of delivering exceptional customer service in the areas of both sales and aftersales.

Brian Patterson brings two decades of motor industry experience to Harris Group. Starting out as an apprentice technician at Agnew Group (a Mercedes-Benz Truck and Van dealership) to working for Ballyvesey Holdings Limited for 13 years in the roles of service manager, regional general manager, and aftersales director.  Over the course of his career, he has held numerous management roles with international brands, with a primary focus on commercial vehicles. Before joining Harris Group, Brain was a freelance strategic leadership consultant, working with a number of well-known dealer groups.

In addition to Brian Patterson’s new role at Harris Group, Mark Barrett (pictured below) has been promoted to MD of group franchises at the company.

In his expanded role, Mark will be central to the strategic development of all brands under the Harris Group umbrella, this includes growing MAXUS across right-hand drive Europe and bringing the Higer brand (bus & coach) to the UK market. He will also be responsible for sales and marketing functions for all brands and the development of the group’s franchise dealership networks.

With a career spanning almost 30 years within the automotive industry, Mark Barrett brings a wealth of experience to his new role having worked with some of the leading brands in the world across fleet rental / leasing, commercial, HGV and LGV sectors.

Mark played a pivotal role in the successful launch of the MAXUS commercial vehicle range in the UK and Ireland. Under his leadership, the brand has introduced several all-new platform vehicles to the market, including the launch of the first all-electric luxury MPV and pick-up truck across right-hand drive Europe.

Speaking about the appointments, Denise Harris said: "These are two significant appointments for Harris Group as we embark on a journey of accelerated growth and transformation. Brian and Mark’s appointments underscore our commitment to attracting top talent and positioning Harris Group for sustained success in 2024 and beyond."

Harris Group was founded by the late Pino Harris in 1961 in Dublin, Ireland. Now under the leadership of his wife, Mrs Denise Harris, the company is set for significant growth in 2024 across all departments, including sales and distribution, after sales, parts and assembly, and training. The company also has ambitions to grow the MAXUS dealership network by 15% over the coming months.

Headquartered in Dublin, Harris Group has developed a strong presence in the UK, with a substantial, modern campus in Liverpool. Directed and managed from Ireland, the premises in Liverpool houses offices, a parts depot and warehouse together with Harris MAXUS’ proprietary technical training academy. In the UK, the business has a national network of some 60 MAXUS dealerships and aftersales centres.
