A family haulage firm set up in 1984 that almost collapsed after it ignored a tax demand from HMRC said it was taking “every week as it comes”.
Northants-based grain specialist Finedon Bulk Haulage was on the edge of insolvency after director Karl Donaldson discovered that several tax arrears notices had been disregarded.
Unwilling to undertake a pre-pack administration, and adamant that debts would be honoured, Donaldson enlisted the help of recovery specialist Praetura Asset Finance and agreed to a company voluntary arrangement with HMRC.
He organised a sale and lease back deal for the firm’s nine tippers to earn £125,000. This should see Finedon pay its tax liability by 2019.
