CPL Transport has purchased two new 44-tonne Iveco Stralis 6x2 twin-steer tractor units to carry out long-distance heavy haulage work.
The vehicles, which have Hi-Way cabs and 510hp Cursor 13 engines, have larger than standard fuel tanks with 725 litre capacities fitted at SB Components in Cambridgeshire. There are also built-in TVs, microwave ovens, fridges, 80 x 200cm beds as well as more than 30 drawers and storage compartments.
CPL Transport, which delivers from Northern Scandinavia to Greece and Italy, purchased its first Iveco six years ago, and the truck is still in service with 622,000 miles on the clock. Colin Lumsden, owner of Ashford-based CPL Transport, said: “Our first Stralis is still going strong after six years travelling throughout Europe and the UK.
"As well as it being an excellent vehicle, a lot of that longevity must go down to the team at Haynes Trucks. The aftersales care they provide is fantastic, from the six-weekly checks to all other inspections and servicing.
"Nothing’s ever too much trouble; that’s why we went back to them when it came to add to our fleet. The vehicles can be home to our drivers for anything up to three weeks at a time, so we have to make sure they are as comfortable as possible.”
