International haulier Hegelmann Transporte Group has taken a huge order of new DAF as part of the expansion of its fleet.

A total of 540 DAF XFs tractor units are to be supplied to the south German operator throughout 2019 and 2020. It is the third large order in in quick succession for DAF Trucks following orders for 400 trucks from waste collector Renewi, and a 1,500 unit order from fleet operator Girteka Logistics.

Based near Stuttgart, Hegelmann has more than 2,000 trucks and 2,000 trailers but operates from as far as Portugal to the Chinese border. They have previously bought more than 100 new DAF XFs, with these latest 483hp units now coming equipped with Predictive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Advance Emergency Braking and Adaptive Cruise Control.

"To make our international growth strategy a success, we require maximum uptime and the highest possible return per kilometre,” said Siegfried Hegelmann, one of the two owners of the family business. “DAF understands that like no other. Our profitability is their goal – that makes DAF our ideal partner."

The vehicles will be maintained under a DAF MultiSupport repair and maintenance contract which will enable them to be serviced across the 1,100 dealer points throughout Europe.
