HGV drink-driver jailed and banned from road

An HGV driver found to be nearly double the legal alcohol limit when he crashed on a Highland road has been jailed for four months.

At Inverness Sheriff Court on 18 December, driver Samuel McNab of Linwood, Paisley was also given a four-year driving ban.

On 24 November, McNab crashed his 44-tonne artic in Drumuillie on the A95 between Aviemore and Grantown. Police said he demolished 50 yards of fencing.

A breath test at Aviemore Police Station revealed he had 62mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.
