Hiab has revealed the new iQ.708 HIPRO. This model is a heavy loader crane designed to balance weight, lifting performance and compact dimensions. These considerations mean the crane is safer, affords operators good payload figures and expands the range of installation options.

The new crane, which is seen here mounted on a Volvo FH, has an increased lifting capacity compared to previous models. With this crane the V12-power boom profile has been scaled to the 60tm to 70tm range category. The boom has six to nine extension versions, and JIB profile with six extensions to offer a lightweight compact frame size to maximise vertical and load lifting capabilities. The HIAB iQ.708 HIPRO has a maximum vertical reach of 40m and with a JIB of 15tm, it can deliver materials with an up and over of 26m. It's equipped with Hiab’s SPACEevo control system to allow easy operation for experienced crane operators and novices. The crane is fitted with Olsbergs V200 valve and hydraulics systems and comes with variable pumps for increased flow performances and reduced fuel consumption.

Stefano Brusa, director, global product management heavy and superheavy loader cranes, Hiab said: “The design philosophy behind the structure of the crane is to deliver a balance between performance and overall installation flexibility, enabling customers to benefit from more payload on a wide assortment of truck installations, which are key elements for the users in this segment.”

With the iQ.708 HIPRO, Hiab has introduced a synchronised distance control function. This allows the load to be automatically kept at a designated distance from the crane’s tip while only having to operate extension movements from the remote. Simplifying the operating system like this reduces the need to operate multiple functions at the same time, ultimately improving safety. Further bettering the user experience and safety, the load stability system for vertical movements compensates for unintentionally excessive lever movement in vertical operations. Variable stability logic plus monitors the position and pressure of stabiliser legs to optimise lifting capacity. The crane comes with a CD4 remote control featuring three displays, haptic feedback and personalised operator settings. Orders are expected to begin from Q4 2024.
