Hopkins Concrete has placed an order for 50 Mercedes-Benz Arocs trucks as part of its fleet renewal.
The order, which Mercedes claims is the biggest single order for vehicles from its construction range to date, consists of 25 Hymix-bodied mixers, 20 Abba Commercials-bodied muckaway tippers, and five 2545 tractor units with mid-lift axles.
The tractors are powered by the 443hp-rated 12.8-litre OM471, while the rest will use the 10.7-litre OM470 rated at 389hp.
The order will replace most of the Wincanton-based operator’s fleet of 60 trucks. Among those to be retained are four Arocs 2645s with StreamSpace cabs, which entered the fleet in June (pictured).
The trucks will be supplied by City West Commercials on a five-year repair and maintenance contract.
