Haylage (horse feed) transporter and manufacturer Thorogoods has taken delivery of a 'thoroughbred' Scania P360.

Frank Thorogood, MD of the Writtle, Essex-based operator, consulted with drivers Mark Brewington and Andy Smerdon on how to improve efficiency in its specialist fleet and took the design ideas to Maldon-based Colliers Truck Builders.

The result was a truck with a low-roof to avoid damage from branches in country lanes. In addition, the vehicle holds 60 250kg bales of haylage compared to the existing capacity for 40 bales. The lorry also carries its own rear mounted forklift.

Brewington says: "As you can see, this is no run-of-the-mill truck."
