Hyundai reveals price of iLoad panel van

Hyundai has announced a price for its new medium-sized panel van, the iLoad, which is set to launch in early January 2009. Powered by a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel producing 114hp and 343Nm of torque, it comes with a payload of 1,062kg and a load volume of 4.3m3.

Equipment levels are strong, with air-con, electric windows and mirrors, central locking, CD/radio with auxiliary input, twin side loading doors and glazed steel bulkhead as standard. It also comes with a five-year, 100,000 mile warranty and is priced at £13,595.

Dutch death crash driver jailed for five years
A Dutch HGV driver who killed a man by colliding with a car, has been handed a prison sentence and has been banned from driving on he UK's roads. Following the collision between a lorry and car on the A1 near Belford on 3 October Klaas Alewijn Jan Rehorst has been sentenced to five years in prison and a 10-year UK driving ban. On 5 December, Newcastle Crown Court heard that the Dutch HGV driver had carried out an overtaking manoeuvre on a single carriageway section of the A1.

TLS Vehicle Rental opens a new branch in Leicester
The number of van centres run by TLS Vehicle Rental has risen to 29 with the addition of a new site in Leicester. The centre on Putney Road West in Freeman's Common includes servicing and maintenance facilities available for the fleet and third-party business. TLS, which is part of GE Capital Solutions, has 18,000 CVs ranging from car-sized vans to 7.5t tippers.

Tesco RDC awaits council approval
Plans for a regional distribution centre (RDC) in Andover, Hants that Tesco hopes to lease from developers will finally be decided next month. Developer Goodman is hoping to receive permission from Test Valley Borough Council to redevelop the former Andover airfield, which would include building a one million ft2 warehouse that Tesco would occupy.
