DAF dealer Imperial Commercials has changed its name following changes to Imperial Holding’s listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE).

Imperial Commercials will change its name to Motus Commercials and will become a division of Motos Group (UK), a subsidiary of Motus Holdings which will be listed on the JSE.

Motus Commercials is the largest DAF dealer group in the UK and Europe with 29 sites, along with three MAN dealers and franchises for LCV brands including Ford, VW, Isuzu, Fiat and LDV. In 2018 sales totaled more than 7,500 new and used vehicles.

Motus Commercials managing director, Matt Lawrenson, said: “We know people had grown used to the Imperial trading title over the years and quite rightly trusted it, so I want to reassure customers and suppliers alike that this is simply a change of name, nothing else. We will still be focussed 100% on supporting our manufacturers and the thousands of operators who rely on us for new and used vehicle sales.”

The parent company for Motus Commercials, Motus Group (UK) also has interests in S&B Commercials, Orwell Truck & Van and Pentagon Motor Group with 119 vehicle franchise outlets at 73 locations under its control. The group recently bought F&G Commercials, adding its four sites in Manchester, Barnsley, Huddersfield and Oldham to the collective.

Its truck and van operations currently number 88 franchise outlets and the business also operates two specialist commercial vehicle body shops and has further interests in parts and service facilities and commercial vehicle equipment supply.

Motus Holdings is the UK’s largest independent commercial vehicle dealer group and combined with its passenger car business it is one of the top 15 automotive dealer groups in the UK with annual revenues of over £1 billion and nearly 3000 employees.
