DAF dealer Imperial Commercials is to invest £5m into a new, purpose-built truck dealership in Gloucester, just 1.5 miles from its current location. It broke ground earlier this week at the new 4.5-acre site on Spinnaker Road.
Completion is scheduled for the second quarter of 2019, and all 50 of its workforce at its existing site on Mercia Road will transfer to the new site. Truck and van workshop bays will cater for DAF and Fiat.
Imperial Commercials has 29 locations across the country and six locations in its western region: Bristol, Swindon, Frome, Hereford, Worcester and Gloucester. In 2015 it spent £2.75m on the construction of a new dealership in Swindon.
“We’re very excited at the prospect of operating from Spinnaker Road,” said Daniel Fitzjohn, regional director of Imperial Commercials western region, “The hard work being delivered by our current Mercia Road team has laid the groundwork for a fantastic future for Imperial Commercials in the region. The new dealership will help us raise our service levels to even greater heights, and local operators can look forward to a seamless transition to Spinnaker Road next Spring.”
