Airdrie-based fresh fish transport specialist AMG Transport has taken delivery of a DAF new generation XF 530 FTG tractor unit.
The vehicle, supplied by Imperial Commercials in Cumbernauld, comes with Super Space Cab, leather trim, fridge, microwave and a roof mounted air-conditioning pod, all fitted by the dealer.
It also includes a telematics package and forward-facing camera.
AMG, celebrating its 10th year of business this year, runs six DAF tractor units, all with Super Space Cabs, coupled to refrigerated trailers from Schmitz as well as Gray and Adams.
It has opted for a special Jamaica Blue paint finish on the New XF, rather than its usual black, and it will be one of two vehicles used on runs to Billingsgate, five days a week.
Funding comes from Paccar Financial and the dealer will provide service and maintenance support.
Owner Andy McGonnagle said: “After fuel, on the road performance and driver comfort, local dealer support is very important for any smaller fleet operator.
“We get great service from Imperial Commercials and they add a real plus to our choice of DAF. I have driven and trialled all the major premium marques, but for me the DAF has the most comfortable cab and, in these days of driver shortages, that is important to me.
“I have a very good team here and I want to give them the best trucks for the job. They are all given their own vehicle to drive, no sharing, and they each take a pride in keeping it smart and cared for.”
