Wrexham-based cable reel and drum producer Marlin Industries has replaced its artic fleet with 11 new Daf XF Super Space Cab tractor units supplied by Imperial Commercials.

The ten XF 460 6x2s ( and one 4x2 unit) come with a five-year funding package from Paccar Financial.

Group transport manager at Marlin, Mike Stokes said important factors behind the acquisition were impressive levels of aftersales support from Imperial Commercials and the whole life cost of the Dafs.

He added: “Although we have a GVW of 44-tonnes we only gross out at 34 tonnes [due to the natureof the product], and we’re already seeing ten-plus mpg from the new Daf XFs, and that’s extremely encouraging in just the first few weeks in operation, and much better than the old Euro-5s.”
