Imperial Holdings, the South-African parent of Daf dealership Imperial Commercials (pictured), has – via its wholly-owned vehicle division Motus Corporation - indirectly acquired 100% of Pentagon Motor Holdings.

While primarily in the passenger car space, Pentagon also retails vans– including brands such Vauxhall, Peugeot, Renault, Nissan and Fiat - across 21 sites in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Yorkshire and Greater Manchester.

Pentagon was set up in 1991 by chairman Trevor Reeve and employs 1,262 people.

Mark Lamberti, group chief executive officer at Imperial , said: “Imperial has strong global partnerships with leading vehicle manufacturers and we are delighted to expand our international retail footprint into the passenger and light commercial vehicle market in the UK through the acquisition of Pentagon.”

As reported on Commercialmotor.com sister title Motortransport.co.uk, Imperial Holdings purchased Palletways for £163m in June 2016.

Osman Arbee, chief executive officer at Motus, said that the acquisition would “complement our existing commercial vehicle business in the UK which has produced commendable results since its acquisition in 2006”.

Imperial Commercials won Technican Team of the Year at the 2016 Commercial Motor Awards.
