Northampton-based Global Road Runners has taken delivery of five tractor units from Mercedes-Benz dealer Intercounty Truck and Van.

The Actros 2545 models with StreamSpace cabs, feature PowerShift 3 automated gearboxes, and their straight-six engines produce 450hp.

They are each the subject of a CharterWay contract hire agreement from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, pull new Cartwright curtainsided trailers and return between 10.5 and 11 mpg.

Since its foundation in 2011 the general haulier has leased all its trucks until now. Founder and contracts manager Adam Barnell said: “Business growth prompted us to decide that sourcing our vehicles from a main dealer, rather than a third-party provider, is now the best way to go. The dealer’s team are really sharp and helpful - I feel entirely comfortable in their hands.”
