The tipper trailer specialist Fruehauf has announced the company plans to expand throughout Ireland. This will bring Fruehauf’s trailer solutions to Irish operators, supported by a service and parts network in the country.
Tiarnan O'Hanlon, Fruehauf's business development manager, said: "We are thrilled to bring Fruehauf's engineering excellence directly to Ireland. This national and local approach will allow us to deliver unparalleled service, original parts, and quality to our Irish customers, building stronger, more direct relationships."
To support the expansion, Fruehauf is working with Bulk Services of Markethill, Armagh who will act as a tipper trailer agent in Ireland.
Wilby Geary of Bulk Services said: "In 1979 Bulk Services started delivering animal feed locally, expanding across the country. In the late 1980s we started to build our own bodies. In the early 1990s we increased our fleet to 9 vehicles, which solely delivered animal feed. Due to our repair and build experience we naturally started doing repairs for other hauliers, with others wanting almost identical builds as our own. In 2003 due to the increase in build and repair requests, Bulk Services sold on the haulage part of the business to concentrate on the build and repair workload. We are delighted to be part of the Fruehauf expansion."
Fruehauf’s heritage dates back to 1908 when August Fruehauf was credited with creating the first semi-trailer with a fifth wheel in the USA. Since then, the company has expanded its trailer offering to suit aggregate, bulk, agricultural and waste management applications.
In 2021, Fruehauf was acquired by the new and used truck supplier MV Commercial. As part of the acquisition, MV Commercial committed to modernising Fruehauf’s manufacturing facility in Grantham. The 73-acre site produces models including sloper smoothsider trailers and step frame bathtub tippers. Fruehauf has a manufacturing programme of standard stock and also offers bespoke solutions which are supported by its in-house engineering, fabrication and livery departments.
