
DAF Trucks has appointed Jeroen van den Oetelaar as chief engineer at DAF Vehicles and a member of the DAF board of management. Van den Oetelaar will move into the role from June 1 following Patrick Dean’s promotion to director of PACCAR Electronics.
Van den Oetelaar has been with DAF since 2011. In his time with the company his roles have encompassed program management, product development and operations and most recently Van den Oetelaar was assistant chief engineer in vehicle engineering. His background includes a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven and an MBA from TIAS Tilburg University. Van den Oetelaar will report to Harald Seidel, president of DAF Trucks.

Patrick Dean will be based in the US to lead PACCAR Electronics. The newly formed division of PACCAR was set up to manage global software and electronic developments. This underline’s PACCAR’s focus on global electronic product planning to integrate with its wider product portfolio.
PACCAR is the parent company of DAF Trucks UK which is based in Buckinghamshire. In 2023, DAF had a market share of 30% for trucks above 6 tonnes in the UK. Its product line was updated in 2021 with the new generation XF, XG and XG+. A year later the CF was replaced by the new XD, followed by XDC and XFC construction models. These models are built for the UK market at Leyland Trucks in Lancashire, with 21,000 vehicles leaving the production line last year.
