Kammac has announced a return to profit in 2006, helped by a strong performance from its keg and cask manufacture and repair divisions. The Lancashire-based firm posted an operating profit of £393,264 in the year to December 2006, up from an operating loss of £47,173 in 2005.  It also made a pre-tax profit of £2.2m compared with a pre-tax loss of £369,852 the previous year. Turnover rose by more than 10% to £20.3m in 2006 from £18.4m in 2005.

The firm, which specialises in packaging, distribution, warehousing and waste management, says its keg and cask manufacture and repair divisions based in Burton-on-Trent went from "strength to strength" during the year.

The improved results were also due to profit from the sale of fixed assets. Kammac says its Dublin operation, which started in 2006, will "become profitable and make a significant contribution to the group's results" once the group's position in these new markets "becomes more firmly established."
