Lack of tacho charts end in £600 fine

A County Londonderry haulier has been fined a total of £600 for failing to produce tachograph charts.

In a Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) case, Londonderry Magistrates’ Court heard how officers from the organisation carried out an in-depth investigation into James A McHugh, based in Carnmoney Road, Eglinton.

It was asked to produce tachograph charts for six of its vehicles, but failed to do so and was prosecuted under the Passenger and Goods Vehicle (Recording Equipment) Regulations (NI) 1996.

The company was fined £100 for each of six counts of failing to produce tachographs, and was ordered to pay court costs and an offenders levy.

Drivers that breach Doncaster weight limit will be prosecuted, say police

Police intend to prosecute truck drivers that breach a 7.5-tonne weight limit in Belton, near Doncaster, after receiving complaints about drivers ignoring the restriction.More than 175 vehicles breached the weight limit on Westgate Road in December and Humberside Police has now written to local businesses to ask them to comply with the restriction or face prosecution.
