Lafarge Cement has renewed part of its 113-strong fleet of trucks with 20 new MAN TGS tractor units.

After a 12-month trial against other marques, Lafarge has chosen the 6x2 440 model, with a mid-lift axle. Each truck is specified with an L cab, TipMatic automated gearbox and intarders.

Andrew Brodley, transport manager, Lafarge Cement, says: "An in-depth evaluation of an MAN trial vehicle during 2009, coupled with favourable driver feedback, justified the selection of the new MAN six-wheelers for our Cauldon Works fleet."

To eliminate working at height, Lafarge has fitted a bespoke ground-level suzie and chassis-mounted compressor connections for its non-tip powder tankers.
