The final truck to roll off the ERF production line will be the star attraction at this year’s Tip-ex Protruck auction on 3 June.
The 2008-registered ECT 12.48 MT 6x2 tractor unit has a manual gearbox, 480,000km on the clock and a 12-month MoT. There is also a copy of a letter dated 27 March 2008 from Des Evans, then UK chief executive of ERF and parent company MAN, to purchaser Barry Dancer of Luton-based B Dancer Haulage, stating it is the last one manufactured.
Evans said in the letter: “This is another poignant occasion in the history of ERF and while it signifies the end of an era in one way, its name will never die, and it will still be fondly remembered among haulage companies all over the UK.”
The vehicle - registration 0008 ERF - will be sold in the collectors and classic part of the auction alongside AEC, Scania and Volvo tractor units, Bedford, Dennis and Thames rigids and an ERF tipper. The auction will start at 10am.
