This week’s used truck of the week is a little unusual; it’s a new 6x4 Iveco Stralis.
It is specified with the Euro-5 10.3-litre Cursor 10 engine producing 450hp and 2,100Nm peak torque. The gearbox is a ZF manual transmission. The Stralis includes a sliding fifth-wheel, and the high-roof sleeper cab has air management kit, air horns and sun visor.
It is plated to 80 tonnes GVW, which is Special Types General Order (STGO) Category 2, and it is yet to be registered.
Selling the Stralis is MV Commercial, based in Livingston. The company has built a notable reputation for new-build crane-mounted trucks, which it hires out along with standard specification tractors and rigid.
The company also sell its own vehicles. While this particular vehicle doesn’t fit the typical ‘used truck of the week’ profile, it is included because it is different.
Double-drive tractors are not common, and to make its value it requires a specific type of customer operating in a specific sector, whether it is heavy, wide or oversized loads.
These types of trucks are usually bought outright by the first owners and work consistently over long periods, often lower but more intense mileage.
