Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK has announced Halifax-based environmental and recycling business Leo Group as a new partner in Scotland, with initial locations in Aberdeen and Inverness.

The news follows the collapse of TOM Group in March, the owner of Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealer Caledonian Truck & Van, with sites in Aberdeen, Airdrie, Ayr and Nairn. Colin Dempster and Fiona Taylor of EY’s Restructuring team were appointed joint administrators of TOM Group and its Scottish subsidiary companies TOM Vehicle Rental and Caledonian Truck & Van.

Mike Belk, MD of Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK, said: “We’re delighted to have this partner for trucks in Scotland, which will enhance our representation.”

Last October, Leo Group bought North East Mercedes-Benz dealer Bell Truck and Van for an undisclosed sum, taking over sites in Billingham, Longbenton, Spennymoor and Stockton-on-Tees.

Ben Sowersby, MD at Bell Truck and Van, (pictured), added: “It’s great that we can continue to build on our established relationship with Mercedes-Benz Trucks. I'm looking forward to serving customers in Scotland, as well as the North East of England.”
