Goole, Yorkshire-based Lewis Tankers has been bought by its management team from parent company Simon Storage.

The management buyout was supported by Royal Bank of Scotland and has seen Stewart MacDonald, David Brown and Andrew Nicholson take control of the 70-truck firm.

MacDonald says: "My colleagues and I are determined to take the company forward and are excited by the challenge ahead. We are also very pleased we have been able to sustain our strong working relationship with Simon Storage."

The firm, which was established in the 1970s and also has bases at Grangemouth and Ellesmere Port, was acquired by Simon Storage in 2001.

Simon Storage will continue to operate as a bulk liquid and gas logistics service provider.
