A Lincolnshire-based haulier is delivering art to the people as a result of an Arts Council England funding scheme.

As part of a programme called Transported, funded by a branch of the Arts Council called Creative People and Places, artist Alisha Miller worked with people in Lincolnshire to create ten 40-foot canvasses for trucks belonging to haulier FreshLinc, drawing on their thoughts and memories about the surrounding towns and countryside.

The trucks, now transformed into mobile artworks, are back on their usual delivery routes across the UK and parts of Europe.

FreshLinc MD Robin Hancox said: “I’m particularly proud that these wonderful interpretations are emblazoned on ten FreshLinc trailers that will travel the length and breadth of the country, being seen by many of millions of people over the coming years. Many of the designs feature local farming activities fills me with pride.”

Helen Featherstone, senior manager of engagement and audiences at Arts Council England said: “Part of the vision for the Arts Council National Lottery funded Creative People and Places Programme is that fantastic art and arts experiences will engage with people in unusual and non-traditional spaces… so an encounter occurs which is perhaps surprising or unexpected, but that causes a reaction, stimulates discussion and debate and is an encounter which enables people to start to talk about the arts and what arts means to them in their community, and this art on lorries project articulates that particularly well.”
